This last period of Ruggero Vanni's work is marked by a thickening of competitive space, with dense brushstrokes of matter that, in time, will begin to manifest as individual gypsum flakes, which the artist, in the very last works, first cut out and then carefully reassembled one by one on the surface of the canvas. The surface of many paintings acquires a distinctive tridimensionality, and the works created with cast paper, almost relief sculptures made of paper and pigment, make their appearance. At the same time, Vanni will be working on huge paintings commissioned for public buildings to create a unique and immersive experience for all who interact with the space.
